Trinity Marriott – Finding Confidence, Community, and a Brighter Future at OFY

Trinity found her voice, her confidence, and a community that believed in her. Now, she’s ready to take on what’s next.

Before joining Options For Youth (OFY), Trinity Marriott felt invisible in her traditional high school. “The lack of individualized attention to students who were struggling made me feel as if I was just another face in the classroom,” she shared in her graduation speech. Stressed, unrecognized, and unsure of her future, Trinity knew something had to change.

Her journey shifted in 2022 when she enrolled at OFY—a decision she calls “life-changing.” From the very first day, Trinity says she felt seen. “I was greeted with a warm smile and a simple question: ‘How are you, Trinity?’” It was a small gesture with a big impact—one that made her feel like more than just a student, but a valued member of a close-knit community.

What Trinity found at OFY was a personalized, flexible learning environment that empowered her to take control of her education and thrive. She took full advantage of opportunities outside the classroom, including extracurricular activities and college visits through the Pathways program. On her first trip—to tour colleges in San Diego—Trinity was anxious and unsure if she would fit in. But that experience transformed her. “I learned to keep an open mind and be extroverted with my fellow students and staff,” she recalled. “I learned so much about not only college life and how to be prepared for it, but how to be a better person overall.”

That trip left a lasting impression. On the final day, Trinity was surprised to be nominated as valedictorian—a moment she describes as both exciting and affirming. It marked a turning point where she realized how far she’d come, and how supported she’d been along the way. “I got to write a speech and present how appreciative and grateful I was to be a part of so many kind people and gain an experience that I would have never got if I had not attended OFY.”

Trinity also credits her family for their steadfast support, especially during the tougher years. “I know it’s been a crazy couple of years, but I’m proud to say that I made it through,” she said. “I love all of you very much and hope this wild ride was worth it in the end.”

Her experience at OFY taught her to embrace challenges, honor her true self, and take full advantage of the opportunities around her. “I’ve learned to challenge myself, be true to myself, and most importantly, make the most out of each opportunity.”

Trinity’s story is a powerful example of how OFY creates a safe, supportive space for students to grow not only academically, but personally. With individualized attention, encouragement from staff, and meaningful experiences outside the classroom, Trinity found her voice—and her future.
